Xavier Sanchez-Roemmele

Managing Director

Xavier has over 27 years’ professional experience in environmental and building acoustics, and in audio signal processing. He has acted as lead acoustics consultant on a vast number of planning, building design, infrastructure and industrial projects in the UK, Australia, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He has also been a specialist adviser on multiple government panels.

Xavier has experience in providing expert witness advice for multiple cases related to both environmental and building acoustics, nationally and internationally – and has had a key role in advising on challenging planning applications related to noise. He has been responsible for the delivery of environmental sound, noise and vibration assessments on high-speed rail (HS2 Phase 2b), and been key to planning approvals for strategic developments, such as the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration project in London.

He has demonstrated throughout his career that he is able to deliver projects to the highest standard, efficiently communicating with clients and stakeholders, and explaining acoustic effects in an understandable manner. He has led acoustic design and delivery teams, and provided specialist advice on projects of £1bn+ in building design and £50bn+ in infrastructure.

His ability to manage complex technical issues, finding solutions and proposing options, has been proven throughout his career. With a background in both engineering and architecture, he provides technically accurate and frequently innovative solutions to projects.

Xavier is Himly’s Managing Director and is personally involved in all projects. He leads all of Himly’s building acoustics and environmental noise projects. He was previously Head of Acoustics at GL Hearn (now WSP) and Capita in London, and previously led acoustics teams at WGE (now Stantec) and other multinational firms.

He is a chartered environmentalist (CEnv), a member of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA), member of the Audio Engineering Society (MAES), member of the Institute of Environmental Sciences (MIEnvSc), member of the Australian Acoustical Society (MAAS), member of the Acoustical Society of America (MASA), member of the Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE) and a member of the Institute of Directors (MIoD).
